RBC introduces banking brand

Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), formerly RBTT St. Maarten, introduced its retail banking brand on St. Maarten and Saba on Monday, signalling the start of formal operations under the RBC banner. RBC acquired RBTT in 2008. “Today marks a significant milestone for our company, as we bring the history and heritage of RBTT and RBC in the Caribbean together for the benefit of our clients,” said Bruce Sim, RBC’s Head of Capital markets and Wealth management for the Caribbean at the unveiling event at RBC’s branch on Cannegieter Street. Sim said the rebranding leverages RBC and RBTT’s more than 100-year heritage in the Caribbean, as the bank puts its global and regional strength to work for clients: best-in-class  global banking practices and resources with in-depth local knowledge of the region. The small gathering was also to introduce Hanna Lieuw Hie-Gonesh, Area Vice President, Personal Banking St. Maarten and Saba.  She said the branding brings more than just a change of name. It also brings the strength and stability of the parent company. The RBC’s history was highlighted of being a proud corporate sponsor and promised that the bank will continue its activities to create a better future for the community it serves. In this context, the bank made a US $5,000 donation to the Journey for Education Foundation. The cheque was accepted by Marie-Louise Boasman and Amanda Joe, President of the foundation.
RBC’s corporate citizenship strategy is known as the RBC Community Blueprint, which allows the bank to support a wide range of community initiatives through donations, sponsorships and employee volunteer activities.
