On Friday afternoon Registrar Els Boers presented her latest book “Spelregels uit de Gemeentewet” to Lt. Governor Jonathan Johnson.
The “Rules of the game from the Municipality law” is written in Dutch. It explains the Dutch municipality law. However as the Wolbes law has a lot in common with this law, it is also partly useful for the BES Islands. Also the book gives inside information about how things are put to practice by a lot of examples from real Dutch municipalities; where things went well, but also the mistakes made. It presents a broad explanation of the articles in the Municipality Law. It clarifies how government should work in a Dutch municipality. Starting point is a logical sequence of rules that introduces the reader to the interesting world of the municipality. The articles of the Gemeentewet are not included.
The book addresses those who want to know how to handle the law in daily practice. The book will be used for courses, for civil servants and politicians.
Mrs. Boers was invited by the publisher, Kluwer, to write this book as a part of their series “ De kleine Gids”. It is a follow up from the book “De Gemeentewet in eenvoudig Nederlands” that she had written with Douwe Brongers and published by SDU.
