Dutch caretaker Minister of Home Affairs and Kingdom Relations Liesbeth Spies was the main guest at a well-attended information session of the organisation for Dutch Caribbean people in The Netherlands OCaN in The Hague Wednesday evening. Spies addressed the latest developments, in particular the instruction of the Kingdom Council of Ministers for Curaçao, the ups and downs of the development of country St. Maarten, her concerns about the Central Bank of Curaçao and St. Maarten, and the integration process of Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba.
The public took advantage to pose many, often critical, questions to the minister. At times the emotions ran high when members of the audience criticised the high inflation on the Dutch ‘public entities,’ the lack of respect from The Netherlands, the absence of representation in The Hague and the shortage of information for people from Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba living in The Netherlands.
