he Saba Amateur Boxing Association (SABA), organisers of the “Clash of the Titans” Boxing Tournament succeeded to bring together amateur boxers from Curaçao, Aruba, St. Maarten and Saba on Saturday, October 27, at the Princess Juliana Sports Field in the Bottom.

SABA treasurer Kelly Johnson, whose persistence made it all possible, spoke of the “star-studded evening” as an all-around success. Saba’s Shamiel Levenstone stole the night defeating Curaçao’s Porres Sarabia in the main event of the night. Levenstone extended his perfect, undefeated streak to 4-0-0.
An exhibition match earlier on in the night, between Gregorio Denis and Akeam Williams both of St. Maarten, was described by the organisers as a showcase of sportsmanship. This first bout was followed by a very well fought match between novices Donald Hassell of Saba and Leroy Breescoten of Curaçao, in their very first match that saw Leroy come out on top.
At the intermission entertainment was provided by the dancers of the Saba Dance School. Showcasing Jazz and Hip Hop routines this was their very first performance since the school reopened in May of this year.
The match between Enoch Charles of Saba and Kevin Lee of Aruba that followed “was a pure slugfest” said Johnson, “they battled it out in the centre of the ring culminating in a hard fought win by Kevin.” The highlight of the evening was the performance by Shamiel Levenstone of Saba, which “his electrifying and lightning quick hand speed” brought him his victory. “All of Saba is proud with not only his win, but also when he walked away with the Fight of the Night,” said Kelly Johnson adding that, “of course this night could not have been possible without Trainer Rodrick Lovell, all of the volunteers, diehard fans, competitors and sponsors that made the event truly a great success.”
The event pumped renewed enthusiasm in SABA’s even more ambitious preparations for an even grander Fight Night 2013.
