Chamber of Commerce to elect board member

Within the framework of the upcoming election to fill one spot on the board, the Chamber of Commerce of St. Eustatius and Saba announced that candidates can register between November 5 and November 16. The vacancy is for the period from January 1, 2013, up to and including December 31, 2015.

Among other things, the Chamber promotes the general interest of the private sector, encourages entrepreneurship and is a discussion partner of government. The board consists of five members and will be assisted in the near future by a part-time executive secretary. “A candidate for membership should have a strong affinity with the local business community and knowledge of the issues regarding sustainable development of St. Eustatius,” a press release issued by the Chamber of Commerce stated.

Board member efforts are expected to be honest and without any form of reward. The tasks mainly consist of reading documents, attending meetings and other activities in which the Chamber of Commerce is involved either directly or indirectly.

Board members should also to be prepared to fulfil specific voluntary administrative functions. The time spent on the tasks is estimated at approximately five hours per week.
