Workshop on library systems

Staff members of Queen Wilhelmina Library on Saba and Gertrude Johnson Library in St. Eustatius participated in a workshop about library automation at Philipsburg Jubilee Library on St. Maarten. The libraries from Saba and Statia received funds from the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science to upgrade their facilities. The library on St. Maarten was asked to provide technical assistance.

The workshop was an initiative of the recently established Dutch Caribbean Library Association (DCLA), which is presided over by Philipsburg Jubilee Library Director Monique Alberts. Trainers were former library director Ans Koolen and Library Manager of University of the Netherlands Antilles on Curaçao Margo Groenewoud. School librarians from St. Maarten Academy, St. Dominic High School and Seventh Day Adventist School also participated in the workshop, as well as a representative of University of St. Martin.
