Trade Conference: Kingdom and Sustainability

Today and tomorrow the annual trade mission is held in Eindhoven. St. Eustatius is represented by Koos Sneek, commissioner of finance, and also by members of the Chamber of Commerce of Statia and Saba such as Alida Heilbron and by members of Statia’s business Association, Steba.

What is the relation between sustainability, the Netherlands and the Caribbean part of the Kingdom? Much as it turns out! That is the key question of the trade mission Inter Expo and Tanja Fraai organize. The trade mission consists of a conference and matchmaking where parties meet each other in a goal-oriented way. The whole event takes place on 28 and 29 November in the ART Hotel Eindhoven. THE city of durability.

During the conference twentyfive speakers highlight the theme of sustainability, they do so from points of view such as from politics, the economy, health care or social visions. In this way Ernst Hirsch Ballin, former Minister of Justice and Home Affairs, speaks on sustainability in the Kingdom relations. MEP Gerben Jan Gerbrandy highlights the green industrial revolution within the Kingdom. Atzo Nicolaï, director of DSM Netherlands focuses on sustainability as a business drive.

Wilbert Stolte, National Representative for Bonaire, Saba and St. Eustatius reflects on the new status of three islands and talks about the future of the link with the Netherlands. Peter Batenburg, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Catharina Hospital Eindhoven, highlights the cooperation between his hospital and the St. Elisabeth Hospital on Curaçao: how do the two partners bring the cardiology at a higher level?

In addition, attention is paid to the tax legislation of the six islands and the ability to do business from the Netherlands. For example, the introduction of the electric bikes on the Caribbean islands, how do you stimulate in that way sustainable tourism on Curaçao, Bonaire, Aruba, St. Maarten, Saba and St. Eustatius? Also the quality of governance as a prerequisite for sustainable governance is on the agenda.
