Daddy Slim retains crown at Saba Road March Competition

The intermittent showers on Saturday night could not dull the spirits of the crowd that turned out to witness the 2013 Road March competition. The contest, which was held at the Princess Juliana Sportsfield, returned to the carnival lineup after a two year hiatus, was a high tempo, energy driven affair.

The competition, which was won by reigning Road March King Daddy Slim, who put on a show stopping performance of his tune “Big Dem Up”, even including a live rooster as a stage prop did not disappoint his host of supporters who came out to see him perform. The first prize went to Evy –D, with his song “We nah fraid”, while the second prize went to Daddy Extra for his tune “Thump”. Other contestants included Singing Lorna, Budu Banton and Bob Morgan.

All contestants were backed up by The Wi- Fi Band out of St. Maarten. The organizers of the competition thanked the public for coming out and supporting the contestants and invited them to also show their support for the Calypso Competition which will be held on July 26th, in the Carnival Village.
