Hikes on SXM, St. Barth’s, Saba and Anguilla

SXM Trails Club President Juste Manuel announces in The Daily Herald that his club expects hikers from St. Croix, Martinique and the U.S. to join residents from the French and the Dutch side of St Maarten in climbing many of the island’s picturesque trails. It is a five-day event which begins on SXM and continues to St. Barth’s and Saba and ends in Anguilla.

This Sunday, July 14, the first trail is a level-three hike and starts in Cole Bay and ends at the viewpoint in Orient Bay. It will go through Marigot Hill, St. Peters and Pic Paradis Hill.

The Saba hike on Monday requires hikers to gather at 5:30am at the Gare Maritime for the 6:00am ferry.

The second St. Maarten hike starts at the entrance of Colombier at 5:30am and goes through Old Joe, Pic Paradis and Loterie Farm. On Wednesday, the St. Barth’s hike starts with the 6:00am ferry from Captain Oliver’s Marina in Oyster Pond.

On Thursday, the third St. Maarten hike departs from the entrance of Belair Beach Hotel at 5:30am. It will be a coastal hike from Cay Hill, Cay Bay, Simpson Bay Beach, breakfast and kayaking in Simpson Bay lagoon.

On Friday, the ferry for Anguilla departs at 6:00am from the Gare Maritime.
