The Daily Herald reports that Commissioner of Education Chris Johnson and Commissioner of Social Affairs Bruce Zagers paid a working visit to Sacred Heart School on Tuesday, in connection with the start of the new school year on August 12. The commissioners met with Principal Diane Wilson and internal guidance officer Jarmila Berkel, who informed them of the various changes made during the summer recess. They were also introduced to new teachers. A new music teacher, who recently arrived from Cuba, will teach piano and also give vocal lessons. She will also be setting up a school choir. The commissioners took a tour of the school and met with all the teachers and pupils, from kindergarten one through grade six, in their classrooms. The commissioners are said to have been pleased to hear of the plans for this school year and wished teachers and pupils much success.
