Saba observes passing of Prince Friso

Since Monday the Island Government begun to mark the passing of Dutch Prince Friso with flags on government buildings being flown at half mast, and expected to be kept so until after the actual funeral, writes the Daily Herald. A moment of silence was observed following the official opening of the Island Council meeting and the singing of the Saba Anthem. A registry book, expressing the island’s condolences to the Royal Household, was opened in the official meeting and the Saban public is welcome to sign it at the government building. The condolence registry is to be later taken to the schools’ compound in St. John’s and the Tourist Office in Windwardside to give the opportunity to all inhabitants to show their great affection for the Royal Household.
