The Dutch newspaper Het Parool reports that Ronald Plasterk, Minister of the Interior and Kingdom Relations has no doubts about the integrity of Wilbert Stolte, the Kingdom Representative on Bonaire.

Following a recent publication in NRC Handelsblad, the crisis arose after the arrival of Stolte in May 2011. At present, Plasterk’s right hand on the island would only be supported by the ruling UPB fraction of whom a number of politicians are suspected of corruption.
Some time ago, the minister sent Ronald Bandell to Bonaire to investigate the crisis. Plasterk claimed that Bandell had not recommended to replace Stolte.
Plasterk responded on Tuesday at the first meeting day of the Second Chamber after the recess. At question time, he said that he was discussing the situation with Stolte but still nothing had been decided.
Stolte is alleged to have close ties with some politicians of the UPB, a sister party of the Christian Democrats, who are accused of corruption. Prior to his appointment as Kingdom Representative, Stolte had been advising the UPB-politicians who are now under investigation for corruption, forgery, fraud and money laundering.
How is it possible that the attempt of Stolte to stop the investigations into fraud by politicians can be neglected in regard of his integrity?
And by the way: not only integrety is an issue regarding the position of Stolte but also the fact that he had been responsible for the loss of so many millions in a job before his current function. This is not necessarily a matter of integrity but can also be a matter of incompetence, which would not be surprising seen the fact that Stolte did not even finish even the first half of any study.
