Tender for cleaning work by RCN

The National Service Caribbean Netherlands RCN is currently preparing for a unique way of tendering cleaning services for all its offices, writes The Daily Herald. It involves about 80 buildings of the Dutch Government, from tax office to police station, on Bonaire, Saba and St. Eustatius. RCN considers it important to stimulate the local economy on the three islands. Therefore, for this tender small and mediumsized companies are especially asked to respond, which can then provide the services for one or more properties. Also people who do not own businesses, but for example have experience in cleaning work can sign up for a part of this contract. “The procedure will be as simple as possible and the Chamber of Commerce will help the entrepreneurs,” a RCN-release states. Special about this tender is that much attention is paid to the matching of supply and demand. RCN is offering local training for cleaners and supervisors. This will allow people to get a diploma in a short period of time, so they can work in the cleaning industry and can continue to learn. If the company executes the job satisfactorily, the contract can last for eight years.

On Friday, September 27 from 11:00am till 4:00pm it is possible to get information on Bonaire about the work and training opportunities. “This day is also intended for the companies in turn to show what they can offer. In this way we want to identify supply and demand and align this as closely as possible.” The information day will be held at Divi Flamingo hotel, with people present who speak Dutch, Papiamento, English and Spanish. When the Chamber of Commerce heard of this tender, they saw this as a great opportunity for starting- and small businesses. They will organise their own information meeting next week, where they will inform starting businesses and other interested parties about how the chamber can support their application for this tender.
