The committee for the visit of the Royal Couple to Saba hosted the Advance Party of the Royal House this past Saturday, September 28, writes The Daily Herald.
The Advance Committee visited Saba to assess the island’s preparations for the upcoming visit of King Willem Alexander and Queen Maxima to the Saba on November 14. While both the King and Queen have visited the island before, this will be the first visit since the Inauguration in April of this year.
The members of the delegation visited the sites where the King and Queen will be received when they are on the island next month. The delegation, which comprised of persons with various areas of expertise in planning royal events, was able to give feedback to the Saban Committee on the preliminary programme that was submitted for consideration. The ideas brought forward by groups are aimed at enhancing the visit to make it a truly memorable one for both the Royal Couple and the people of Saba.
The final touches to the programme will be worked on in the coming weeks after which it will be made available to the public. The programme is designed to ensure there is broad public participation from residents in this historic event. The Governor will make the programme public only after it has been approved.
