Lions Club and Lions brewed some Halloween fun

The Saba Lions Club and Child Focus Foundation joined hands this year in hosting one of the spookiest fun Halloween celebrations last week, reports The Daily Herald. In an interview, Saba Lions
Club President Glenn Holm labelled the cooperation with the Child Focus Foundation a “great success.” Child Focus programs coordinator and Lion Club member Aaron Soares estimated that over 250 “trick-or-treaters” and their parents showed up for the Windwardside party. Traditionally the Saba Lions organize an open-house Halloween reception for children at the home of club member Rudolph Hassell. Due to the growing popularity of the event the Lions hosted it this year at the Eugenius Johnson Center in Windwardside across the street from the Child Focus Building, the hub of child-oriented celebrations. Using the grounds of both buildings made it easier for both organizers and parents to gather in the afternoon said Soares.
Holm related how the Lions turned the Eugenius hall into a chilling “haunted house” full of lavish decorations, special lighting effects and complete with eerie music. Dressed-up as vampire and lording over it all, Lion Rudolph Hassell scared the children while handing out bags full of candy and goodies. To satisfy everyone’s sweet tooth the organizers treated visitors with cupcakes. The mini-mob next smashed a piñata and many were treated to a “wheel of fortune” game and other costume prizes. The organizers took individual photos of the costumed youngsters to share with their families as mementos of the day The only negative observation Holm had was related to the egg-fight, shaving cream and silly string rubbish left behind but fortunately the mess was washed away by the rain. With the little trouble-makers gone, the adult “tricksters” partied the night away raising the spirits at ghoulish parties down the road at Scout’s Place and Sea Witch restaurant.
