Delegation attends Youth Fund anniversary

Saba’s youth, this writes The Daily Herald, will be represented in the 20th anniversary of the Youth Fund of the Netherlands Antilles JENA. Despite the disintegration of the Netherlands Antilles, the regional organization still attempts to promote joint activities in youth welfare and development relying on the fundraising abilities of each island community. Youth from all the Dutch Caribbean islands were invited to take part in the anniversary celebrations in Curaçao which take place from November 17 through November 20. Following Anastasia Simmons’ call to action, Body, Mind and Spirit Foundation joined hands with Child Focus Foundation, Satel N.V., Windward Roads, E&H Home Center, Government Service Caribbean Netherlands RCN and the Island Government to make it possible for five children ages six through 11 to travel and attend the festivities.

Tyreke Hassell, Sharinella Blackman, Mya Juana, Lyieshah Peterson, Dareno Gomez and chaperone Ludwina Lucas Charles left Saba on Saturday morning for Curaçao. The children received special polo-shirts from Body, Mind and Spirit to represent Saba as a team, participating in a variety of cultural activities, including polonaise and conga-line dances. They will share their experiences in Curaçao in a youth-oriented open house at the Court of Guardianship, Paris Hill Road, The Bottom on November 29 from 10:00am to 5:00pm.
