Fundraising for Carnival announced

A bingo and food sale fundraising event was announced by President of the Saba Vision Foundation Christian Hassell and President of the Saba Latin Foundation Jeovany Hassell, writes The Daily Herald. Both foundations are newly registered entities on Bunker Hill Road in The Bottom.

The bingo and food sale fundraising event will take place at the “Bizzy B,” Breadline Plaza in Windwardside this Sunday, March 16, from 4:00pm until 9:30pm.
The organisers are raising funds to form a Carnival Troupe that will participate in the 2014 Saba Summer Festival. They would also like to use the fundraising revenue to organise a Pre-Carnival Latin and Zouk Night on the island, and highlight the presence of the Latin community’s rich cultural heritage in Saba.
All proceeds from such events would go towards planning and organising related social activities. The fundraising food sale will feature both Latin and Saban cuisine dishes and the public is invited to show their support by attending the event.
The two community-based organisations have secured a number of great bingo prizes including Windward Islands Airways ticket vouchers to St. Maarten, sponsored by the airline. Among the many noteworthy local businesses that pitched in are My Store supermarket in The Bottom and Saba’s telecommunications utility company Satel NV, which donated several smart phones.
