US report observes insufficient corruption control in Dutch Caribbean

The Daily Herald reports that the US International Narcotics Control Strategy Report (INCSR) is published in March 2013. It covers their findings during the year 2012 and is published in two volumes. Volume I covers Drug and Chemical Control whilst Volume II addresses covers money laundering and financial crimes.

About Curaçao, St. Maarten, Aruba and the BES-islands (Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba), the report mentions that corruption control is scarcely out of the egg. Corruption among government officials remains worrisome and efforts to tackle the problems are often lacking. For example, investigation into officials holding sensitive positions is still not conducted on a regular
basis. Many government agencies haven’t adopted the integrity standards yet.
