Angel Bermudez bids farewell to Tax Office

The Daily Herald writes that the Caribbean Netherlands Tax Office BCN bade farewell to Managing Director Angel Bermudez during a festive gathering on Friday. He will leave BCN on July 1, and will return home to Aruba, Government Service Caribbean Netherlands RCN said in a statement Monday. From January 1, 2011, Bermudez has worked to build up BCN, which came into existence on 10/10/10. Under his leadership, the organization has been formed into a modern organization, comprising five teams: Customs/Physical Inspection, Customs/Customer Service, Levying and Surveillance, Collection and Service and team St. Eustatius and Saba. Bermudez has already indicated that he considered it a “major challenge” to bring the Tax Office to the level where it is now. When he started in 2011, he had to deal with a new organization, new systems and new employees, who used to work for a large number of islands and national services, as well as new laws and regulations and a new way of working. Because of the huge commitment of all employees, this turned out to be very successful, according to Bermudez.

As a new and young organization, BCN is experiencing substantial developments. The year 2011 in particular was a “development year,” 2012 and 2013 were the years in which those changes have solidified. This year, the focus is on providing a higher quality of service. Bemudez looks back with satisfaction on the period he was able to work as BCN’s Managing Director, it was stated.
