I give you the answers to the written questions of the members Fritsma and Wilders (both PVV) on the appointment of the new Government Representative BES. These were sent on July 11, 2014.

Questions from members Fritsma and Wilders (both PVV) to the Minister of the Interior and Kingdom Relations on the appointment of a Labour councilor for disputed as Rijksvertegenwoordiger BES (submitted July 11, 2014)
1 Are you aware of the article “Controversial Utrecht PvdA State Representative BES islands‘ ? If so, why do you help this controversial and plush sticky PvdA person to a well paid job?
2 Is this post only available for crazy councilors, given that the previous one was also totally inept and and wasting tax money?
3 Considering these bizarre appointments, oare there any selection criteria? If so, is it not possible to drop the criterion of cronyism and secret backroom agreements?
4 Are you prepared to immediately withdraw the nomination If not, why not?
Answer to question 1 to 4:
On May 6, 2014 your Chamber is informed about the profile of the new Kingdom Representative for Public Entities Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba. As reported to the Chamber, there is a selection committee for the procedure set consisting of Mr F.M. Goedgedrag, Mrs. G.A. Verbeet and Mr. LJ Brinkhorst. I informed the committee in advance that I would weigh an unanimous opinion very heavily. This committee has presented a unanimous nomination to me. I accepted their advice. The island councils have been consulted about the procedure and the nomination. Moreover, the selection committee and I believe that person will be able to fulfill and satisfy perfectly the requirements defined in the profile description.

Hierbij bied ik u de antwoorden aan op de schriftelijke vragen van de leden Fritsma en Wilders (beiden PVV) over de benoeming van de nieuwe Rijksvertegenwoordiger BES. Deze werden ingezonden op 11 juli 2014.

Vragen van de leden Fritsma en Wilders (beiden PVV) aan de minister van Binnenlandse Zaken en Koninkrijksrelaties over de benoeming van een om-streden PvdA-wethouder als Rijksvertegenwoordiger BES (ingezonden 11 juli 2014)
1 Kent u het bericht ‘Omstreden Utrechtse PvdA’er Rijksvertegenwoordiger BES-eilanden’ 1)? Zo ja, waarom helpt u deze omstreden en plucheplakkende PvdA’er aan een goed betaald baantje?
2 Is deze functie alleen beschikbaar voor geflipte wethouders, aangezien de vorige, totaal ongeschikte en belastinggeld weggooiende Rijksvertegenwoor-diger dit ook al was?
3 Zijn er, gelet op deze bizarre benoemingen, wel selectiecriteria waaraan wordt getoetst? Zo ja, kan het criterium van vriendjespolitiek en achterkamertjesge-ritsel daarbij vervallen?
4 Bent u bereid deze voordracht onmiddellijk in te trekken? Zo neen, waarom niet?
Antwoord op vraag 1 tot en met 4:
Op 6 mei 2014 is uw Kamer geïnformeerd over de profielschets voor de nieuwe Rijksvertegenwoordiger voor de Openbare Lichamen Bonaire, Sint Eustatius en Saba. Zoals aan uw Kamer medegedeeld is er een selectiecommissie in de procedure opgenomen bestaande uit de heer F.M. Goedgedrag, mevrouw G.A. Verbeet en de heer L.J. Brinkhorst. Ik had de commissie op voorhand laten weten dat ik een unaniem advies zeer zwaar zou laten wegen. Deze commissie heeft aan mij een unanieme voordracht gedaan. Deze voordracht heb ik overgenomen. De eilandsraden zijn geraadpleegd over de procedure en de voordracht. Overigens zijn de selectiecommissie en ik van oordeel dat betrokkene de functie uitstekend zal kunnen vervullen en voldoet aan de in het profiel opgenomen functie vereisten.
