Union renewed Collective Labour Agreement

The Daily Herald writes that St. Maarten-based Windward Islands Civil Servants Union/Private Sector Union (WICSU/PSU) has renewed its Collective Labour Agreement (CLA) with Bonaire, Saba and St. Eustatius. This is the second CLA the union has with the three islands. The three-year CLA, signed about a week ago, covers most of the civil servants on those islands.

Union President Dearie Leonard said a number of benefits have been secured for workers on those islands in the CLA. The union will now continue to actively address the concerns of its members on the three islands. WICSU/PSU held a meeting with the Executive Council of Bonaire and Statia this week. The union had been informed that Statia is in the process of recruiting personnel to address the staff shortages in the Fire Department, which was one of the concerns of members.
