The Chairpersons of the First and Second Chamber, Ankie Broekers-Knol and Anouchka van Miltenburg, will be jointly making an introductory visit to the Caribbean part of The Netherlands from October 19th through October 25th. The purpose of the visit is getting to know the six islands better. It is the first time that the Chairpersons are visiting the Caribbean part of the Kingdom together.
From Sunday October 19th until Tuesday October 21st the Chairpersons will be visiting Saba and St. Eustatius. Tuesday morning they will travel to St. marten, and Wednesday October 22nd Curacao is on the programme. Thursday October 23rd the Chairpersons will be on Bonaire. They will conclude this working visit on Friday October 25th on Aruba.
The programme does not only include official meetings, but also comprises discussions during various working visits to among others a school and hospital. Broekers-Knol and van Miltenburg want to truly experience the islands and to come into contact with the people who live and work here.
This visit was already announced during the Inter-Parliamentary Kingdom meeting, which took place in June 2014 in the Hague.
