People’s Choice Award

Malofi Foundation and Lorsim Productions hosted their annual People’s Choice Award 2014-2015 last Saturday evening, during which the population’s choice of who they considered the “best-of-the-best” on Saba was announced. The people of Saba selected their favourite “idol” in the categories music, art, sports, education, business and economy. This writes the Daily Herald.

In the category of music and art, Sabans voted for The Occasionals Band as best band; best female singer Mary Anastacia Simmons; best male singer David M. Johnson; best instrument players Desmond Caines and Carmen Simmons; best song “Beautiful Saba” by The Occasionals and best painting “Dolphins” by Heleen Cornet.

In the category sports and education, the community chose the Soldiers Baseball Team as best team; Tenisha Thielman as best female athlete; best male athlete Shurandy Wind- field; best coach Derek Spence; best teacher Constance Clement and best student Michel Hassell.

In the category business and economy, Saba Benevolent Foundation won best organization. Unique Supermarket was chosen as the best supermarket, while Do it Best was chosen as best department store. Best restaurant went to Angelina’s Restaurant and bar.

The people of Saba chose Patricia Linzey as best employee. Cottage Club was chosen as the best hotel/guesthouse. Harry Simmons was selected as the best business man and John Emeal Simmons the person of the year.
