In a joint press release, the Benevolent Foundation Saba (BFS) and Saba Health Care Foundation announced that they have signed an intention to merge.
There are a lot of developments taking place in health care; developments that have an impact on the way BFS provides care. The Home wants to improve the quality of care and under the current organizational structure this cannot be realized optimally. Discussions for a merger have been held for some time and both organizations recognize that joining forces can lead to more effective and efficient use of their resources. The Island Government of Saba fully supports the merger process.
Parties agreed to install a working committee and a supervisory committee in order to prepare both facilities for the merger. Mr. Bruce Zagers, Commissioner of Health, will be the chairperson of the supervisory committee, which also consist of Mr. Hubert Smith of the Benevolent Foundation Saba and Mr. Sorton of Saba Health Care Foundation. The working committee is charged with coordinating the required operational aspects of the merger. This committee consists of Mrs. Joka Blaauboer of Saba Health Care Foundation and Mr. Bogers, an independent project manager, on behalf of Benevolent Foundation Saba.
The BFS and Saba Health Care Foundation are fully aware that the support of the clients, client representatives, employees and community are crucial for a successful merger. The merger will bring change and both parties understand that change takes time. The merger process will therefore be done in gradual stages whereby all employees of BFS will transfer into the expanded organization of Saba Health Care Foundation.
The merger is expected to be finalized successfully merger by January 1st, 2016. Both SHCF and BSF will consult with and keep stake holders informed accordingly of the merger developments and also look forward to the collective effort of all involved.
