Centre of Youth and Family (CYF) organised the live game show “Family Feud” at Eugenius Johnson Centre in Windwardside, on Sunday afternoon. This reports The Daily Herald. The show was the first-ever on Saba and part of a long-term programme to bring families closer together. Local Minister Mervin Alexander was the show’s host and very convincing in his role as original TV game show host Steve Harvey. “Our mission was accomplished since we reached out to all age groups” said CYF youth worker Monique Wilson. She was the Mervin Alexander (right) hosting the Family Feud game show initiator for this event, but could not have done it without her trusted colleagues Tessa Samuel Alexander and Caroline Teeuwen, she said.
First place in the Family Feud show went to the Wilson family. They won a Pizza Night at Sea Witch Restaurant and a US $100 shopping voucher at Unique Supermarket; second place was for the Woods family, who received a $50 phone credit voucher; third and fourth places went to the Every and Baker families. All participants received a family game, non-alcoholic champagne and a trophy together with an award certificate. As the show received much positive feedback, CYF will be planning to organise another edition next year, it was said.
After this event, the CYF ladies will not be taking it easy. They are organising a walkathon on Thursday, together with Saba Fit, starting at 5:00pm. The route starts at Eugenius Johnson Centre in Windwardside and ends at the RCN parking lot in The Bottom, where healthy snacks and refreshments will be served.
An educational event on budget management called “Grow your own Money Tree” will be held at CYF in The Bottom on Tuesday, December 9, at 6:30pm.
Expecting parents can visit CYF for an informational event called “Mommy and Me” on December 14, at 4:00pm. Another initiative is “Be Santa’s helper” in which canned and dried foods may be donated to brighten the holiday season for the less fortunate. Food items may be dropped off at CYF. Pick-up of larger quantities can also be arranged, it was said.
What a great idea ! Congratulations on a fun and successful event !!
