Tax office to close cashier department

Tax Office Caribbean Netherlands will be closing its cashier departments as of January 1, 2015. As of that date, payments will no longer be accepted at the Tax Offices on Saba and St. Eustatius.
Payments can be done through the banks on the islands using online banking or through deposits directly to the Tax Office’s account. The Tax Office considers this a major step towards the development of the two islands and their economies “by relinquishing all tasks that can and should be carried out by a banking institution thus creating more work in the banking field and securing the existence of the bank(s) on our islands,” the Tax Office stated in a press release on Monday. The Tax Office’s account number with Windward Islands Bank in Statia is 82050000, and for Saba, the bank account number is 81050000.
