Website Saba Health Care Foundation launched

The Daily Herald writes that the new website of Saba Health Care Foundation (SHCF) was officially launched at a New Year’s reception at Queen’s Garden Resort in The Bottom on Saturday, witnessed by SHCF staff and invited guests.

For a couple of years, SHCF decided to only share their information on the web through their Facebook page. Director and chair of the SHCF Board Joka Blaauboer decided about six months ago that a professional website had to be built. Together with SHCF’s management team, local graphic designer Malachy Magee was hired to realise this ambitious project.

Blaauboer mentioned that although Saba’s A.M. Edwards Medical Centre has existed since 1980, SHCF is only a few years old. “During this time, most of us pioneered with new equipment, new regulations, new attitudes to healthcare and we pioneered to establish our supporting functions,” she continued.

“The secret of our success is and always will be: our focus on people, our focus on our patients and our focus on staff. We do this by using our key values: love, trust, patient-centred, respect and quality,” Blaauboer said in her speech, after which she unveiled the new website.

During an interview with The Daily Herald, Blaauboer mentioned she was “very happy” with the end result. She particularly liked the strapline on website www.sabahealthcare.org , which reads: “A healthy community requires a strong foundation,” which was thought out by designer Magee. The new website shares all the information the public needs to know, including news about the “I Love My Body,” programme, which starts again on February 1. This healthy-lifestyle programme, sponsored by the Saba Island Government, is initiated by Dr. Gina Boorsma. The programme helps to make longterm changes to diet and physical activity, resulting in a healthy lifestyle.

Among the attendants at the reception was a management delegation from St. Maarten Medical Center. Piet Lucassen and Eileen Healey were attending on behalf of St. Maarten Mental Health Foundation, together with psychiatrists Dr. Kour and Dr. Gandotra. Also present were Jacco Vaders of Foundation Addiction Care and Psy- chiatry Caribbean Netherlands SVPCN, Gerard Berkel of St. Eustatius Health Care Foundation and Roy Smith and Rosetta Riley of Benevolent Foundation. Government Service Caribbean Netherlands RCN was represented by Alida Francis and Bastiaan Janssens.
