During the second day of the UNESCO conference on Statia, the officials were charmed by the culture heritage presentation. Himalchuli Gurung, UNESCO Programme Specialist for culture in the Caribbean, is deeply impressed with the diversity of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) on St. Eustatius. During the second day of the conference at Caribbean Netherlands Science Institute, she urged delegates “to safeguard and promote this diversity by working more closely amongst themselves, and with local and national government authorities.” “Each island in the Caribbean has a unique cultural heritage. The cultural diversity and Intangible Cultural Heritage on Statia is both charming and very interesting,” Gurung said.
Next Friday a workshop on Saba will be held within the same UNESCO Programme.
