Dutch soccer coach on Saba

In the past week, Frank Nolles, who is a 27-year-old staff member of top Dutch professional soccer team Feyenoord, located in Rotterdam, came to Saba. This writes The Daily Herald. In Rotterdam he coached a total of 34 children, ranging from seven to 12 years old. In cooperation with Child Focus, Nolles came to Saba and coached the kids participating in the after-school soccer programme.

Before the first training session, he donated new equipment (balls and vests) of behalf of Feyenoord, who currently are in third place in the Dutch Premier League (Eredividie). “Even though I am here on vacation, I am happy to take some time to give back to the community of this beautiful island. It is great to offer the kids professional training with new equipment and see them enjoy the experience” stated Nolles.

The training sessions, of which there were two, took place at Johan Cruyff Court in the Bottom. “Back in Rotterdam the club organizes a lot of soccer activities on Cruyff Courts in the city. After finding out the island has one as well, I started looking into possibilities to set this up”, said Nolles.

Apart from this community initiative on Saba, Feyenoord Rotterdam has an international programme in which it sends professional coaches of its well-renowned Academy abroad to train with young players all over the world.
