Life expectancies show no discrepancies

Life expectancy in the Caribbean Netherlands does not differ much from life expectancy in the European Netherlands, Central Bureau for Statistics (CBS) reported.
At birth, life expectancy in Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba was 80.2 years, based on CBS figures of January 1, 2013. This is 0.9 years lower than in the European Netherlands, CBS stated Thursday. At the age of 65 the difference in life expectancy is only 0.1 years. Considering the relatively small number of inhabitants in the Caribbean Netherlands the methodology to calculate life expectancy in the European Netherlands was adapted, CBS said.
