Dear Editor,
How can any government say that a civil servant has to vote for them because they “gave” them their job? Aren’t people hired because the ought to be the one best or more qualified for the job?
You can only give what is yours to give( your money, car, house, clothes, jewelry, pet, your spouse) only then can you compel the person to do what you want them to do.
To anyone out there that in future is going to apply to any government for a job, whether it be here on Saba or in Timbuck-who,and you are awarded the position take me advice and let the first question you ask not be about salary however this is the most vital question you should ask: “What is the reason I am being selected/ awarded this job? Is it because you feel I am the best candidate for the position based on my educational background and or experience or are you “giving” me this job obliging me to always vote for you?”
Any Commissioners past, present and future enters into a Government where all positions already exist. Remember peeps, someone can only “give” you what belongs to them. No government job belongs to no Governor, no Commissioner and no Island Council member.
