Election Information Campaign Caribbean Netherlands starts

On Thursday, February 19th 2015, the campaign for the Island Council Elections 2015 officially started. Rijksdienst Caribisch Nederland (RCN) is responsible for the information campaign on behalf of the Minister of the Interior and Kingdom Relations.

On Wednesday, March 18th, the elections will take place. Persons entitled to vote in Bonaire, Saba and St. Eustatius will then determine which political party or parties will earn one or more seats in their respective Island Councils that supervise the actions of their individual Executive Councils. With their vote, eligible voters have a say in the course that their island will take over the next 4 years.

In the coming weeks, until March 18th, the campaign will cover all aspects of the voting process. The messages will be communicated through various media to keep the inhabitants of the islands as fully informed as possible about the voting process, so that they can vote in a proper and informed way.

The theme for the campaign is based on nature, which plays an important role on the islands and is something each resident, individually and together, share a responsibility for. Each voter can make a contribution to this process. After all, each islander is part of the miraculous blend of elements that come together in forming the unique identity of their island. The concept compares sowing seeds that will grow and flourish in the future by voting for the future. The slogan: “Plant your vote, let it grow!” is fully dedicated to that.

Apart from RCN, also the public entities will inform the population about the upcoming Island Council elections. The public entities are responsible for the organization of the elections and will distribute the voting cards to your home.
