Saba posts record performance in 2015 U.S. and Canadian residency matches

Graduates of Saba University School of Medicine posted a record performance in the 2015 U.S. and Canadian residency matches, earning coveted appointments at top medical centers across both countries.

“We saw many outstanding placements in 2015,” said Dr. Joseph Chu, President of Saba University School of Medicine. “How well our students do in obtaining residency appointments is a primary measure of our success as a school. Based on the 2015 results in in the U.S. and Canada, our students and our school have a great deal to be proud of.”

Over 150 Saba graduates participated in the 2015 match process. Appointments included:
Anesthesiology: Boston University, University of Pennsylvania, McMaster University (Ontario)
Diagnostic Radiology: University of Texas
Emergency Medicine: Maimonides Medical Center, New York
Family Medicine: University of Toronto, University of California San Francisco
Internal Medicine: Queen’s University (Ontario)
Neurology: Memorial University of Newfoundland
Preliminary Surgery: Yale
Psychiatry: University of Texas
Surgery: University of Missouri
Vascular Surgery: Hershey Medical Center/Penn State
The residency matches that take place annually in the U.S and Canada are the primary way that recent graduates of medical schools receive their post-graduate/residency appointments. In 2015, nearly 45,000 applicants participated in the matches in both countries.
