Saba welcomes first 2015 baby

Saba Health Care Foundation (SHCF) announced the birth of the first baby for 2015 on Saba, writes The Daily Herald.

Gael Emiliano Simmons was born at A.M. Edwards Medical Centre on Monday, April 13, at 6:12am. His parents are Katherine Casallas Lopez and Shalimar Simmons. Doctor Gina Boorsma assisted in delivering the baby.

In a congratulating gesture, SHCF’s board presented the parents with a gift certificate of US $100 to be spent at Saba Dispensary in The Bottom. Mother and child are doing well and have left the hospital last week Tuesday.

Last year, the fi rst baby born on Saba was delivered on January 27. This baby, Juanmanuel Hassell, is a cousin of Gael Emiliano Simmons. Juanmanuel’s mother Gina Hassell is Lopez’ sister.
