Saba Volleyball season ends Saterday with balls

The Saba Volleyball Association championship will be decided at St. John’s Gym starting at 7:00pm Saturday, writes The Daily Herald.

After two months of play, Strikers are top of the standings table of the seven team tournament. Strikers are 5-1. Currently second are Misfits and Medical School at four wins each. However Misfits have two losses and have finished the season. Medical School is scheduled to play two games Saturday. They face Untouchables and Rusties. Two wins and the Medical School grab the 2015 title. In third place is NGO at 3-3. They are followed by SHCF at 2-4, Rusties at 1-4 and Untouchables at 0-5.

As an added bonus for the fans, everyone 18 and younger will be given a volleyball at the award ceremony after the two matches are complete.
The Saba Volleyball Association in conjunction with North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation, Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association and Public Entity of Saba are on a quest to spread the sport on the island and to ‘Keep the Ball Flying’.

President of the Saba Volleyball Association Johan Schaeffer praised Coach Derek Spence and Teacher Jarmila Wilson-Berkel. “They took care of everything, from inviting the audience and making sure snacks and drinks were available, to high standard refereeing, scoring and arranging linesmen. A standard that will prepare Saba’s excelling players for international matches.”
