‘Daddy Slim’ retains Road March title
After a brief hiatus Bob “The Man Bob” Morgan came back and reclaimed the title of Calypso King at the 2015 ‘Best of the Best Calypso and Road March Competition’ Saturday night.

Irving “King Topo” Riley with his song “Confusion,” which focused on the outcome of Saba’s constitutional status following 10- 10-10 scored him 219 points and the first runner-up position. He received $1,000 in prize money.
George “Georgy Boy” York placed second with 213 points for his song “Where do we go from here,” which was reminiscent of the island before the constitutional changes. He won an airline ticket and hotel stay.
With a dominant beat and catchy lyrics Cirilio “Daddy Slim” Martin instantaneously maintained his title of Road March King, scoring 242 points for his song “Carnival is you,” and winning $2,000 in prize money.

Just for verification purposes: this was not a Calypso Competition as we have yearly, but a “Best of the Best”. Bob is competing next year to retain his crown, he now has 2 crowns: 1 for Calypso King which he won in 2014 and one for Best of the Best which he won last Saturday. He will defend his Calypso King title next year.
This is an opportunity for Saba & Statia Cultural commission together, to deepen the challenge for the other Kings of Calypso on the islands by calling for a contest ” Best King of the B.E.S “. Such an event would showcase the varied talent of the N/Antilles and expose them to international performance.
