On the fortieth anniversary of Carnival in Saba, the island saw the participation of more children groups than usual in Sunday’s Children’s Parade, writes The Daily Herald.
There were a total of three groups, namely Saba Cultural Mix, Tropical Fusion and Children of the Caribbean. The children had the streets of The Bottom for their own. There were also various games and activities in the Festival Village, catering specifically for the youth.
The Grand Carnival Parade will be displayed next weekend on Saturday, August 1, and Sunday, August 2, and the children will join in again. The Grand Parade will feature four adult groups.
The gates to Saba’s Carnival Village will be officially opened tonight, Monday, kicking off the 2015 Carnival season.
There will be a balloon lighted jump-up from St. John’s to the Festival Village in The Bottom, with music being provided by Saba’s own Entyce Band.
Grand Masters Band from St. Kitts will be the night’s musical entertainment, following the Jump-up and official opening.
