Saba University School of Medicine (SUSOM) on Thursday graduated sixty students from Basic Sciences and welcomed its new Dean, writes The Daily Herald.
The ceremonies were opened with speeches by outgoing Dean James G. Lewis and fifth semester class representative Kati Burton. New Dean Michael B. Laskowski will also continue to teach Neuroscience and will kick off his new position by welcoming 120 new students on September 1.
Dean Laskowski has his PhD in Physiology and Biophysics from University of Oklahoma School of Medicine, a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Loyola University, Chicago, and post-doctoral in Neuroanatomy from Northwestern University, Illinois, as well as a post-doctoral in Neuropharmacology from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.
The buzz around the Med School campus is that the new Dean is very popular among the students, faculty and support staff. His new posting has brought renewed optimism and excitement to the school, it was said.
