As of October 1, 2015 children under the age of 12 years no longer have to identify with a proof of insurance of the Health Insurance
Office (ZVK) at pharmacies and/or hospitals. Legitimation of children younger than 1 2 years takes place now through the automated
systems at these organizations.
In case of medical referral and/or holiday abroad (also to St. Maarten, Curacao, Aruba and The Netherlands) children under 12 years of age do need to have a proof of insurance through ZVK. This document is then valid for 6 months.
