SCS Students start Internships in November

The Saba Comprehensive School’s Vocational and PraktijkOnderijs (PrO) students will be interning at various businesses around the island throughout the month of November 2015. The Form 3 Vocational and PrO will intern for 3 weeks, while the Form 4 & 5 Vocational and PrO will intern for 4 weeks. The students are looking forward to gaining positive, new experiences in a job setting.

Interning with businesses is an integral part of the students’ education. It allows them to practice skills and experience the day to day operations of businesses. Experiencing the daily operations of a business is not something that can be taught in a classroom. Thus, the SCS appreciates the important role of the businesses in the students’ educational development.

These internships are mostly done with businesses recognized by ROA-CN. The recognized businesses go through mandatory training with ROA-CN. This training aims at giving business owners and job supervisors the tools necessary for assisting, guiding and facilitating students with their internships.

The Saba Comprehensive School and ROA-CN are striving to build a greater working relationship with the businesses on the island. We wish our students and the businesses much success in the upcoming internships.

If you would like to partner up with the SCS or if you would like more information, please contact Madelyn Johnson, internship coordinator.
