Water Subsidy ends after recent rains

The Executive Council of Saba has decided to stop the subsidy on water per November 1st 2015. Over the past month, almost 5.5 inches of rain have fallen on Saba, a relief for many households, who were forced to buy water for the past months. Because of this rain, the Executive Council has decided that the subsidy of 4 cents per gallon on potable water is no longer needed for now.

The subsidy is paid out of a fund that was received from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment to improve the water situation on Saba. Because the subsidy is stopped, the funds will be available to give a subsidy if the need is there.
