Open House held for Fireman's Day

Annually, the Saba Fire Department hosts an Open House for awareness of the work they do and to celebrate Fireman’s Day at the Fire Station in The Bottom, Saba, writes The Daily Herald.

On Wednesday, November 4, from 9:00am to 4:00pm, members of the Saba Fire Department put on tours and demonstrations for the enthusiastic children who came from the day care, as well as the primary and comprehensive schools.

The children had many questions and firemen Michel Johnson and Reid Barnes were on hand to provide them answers regarding fire safety, how the equipment works and what it takes to become a fireman.

As the tour continued, the firemen on hand enjoyed the visit as much as the children, sharing their enthusiasm as they toured the static displays and answered more questions from their curious visitors.

Fire Chief Julio Every considered the day a big success and said he hopes it helps encourage more local children to consider a career on Saba in the rewarding field of firefighting.
