The Chamber of Commerce of St. Eustatius and Saba held a by-election on Tuesday, December 8, to fill three seats on the Board, one for Saba and two for Statia, the Chamber stated Wednesday.
On Saba, there were no registered candidates for this election. Kelly A. Johnson, a current member of the Board whose term was to be vacated, was returned to the Board for another term.
On Statia a total of 56 voters, from a voters’ register of over 300, turned out to vote. For the two available seats for Statia, incumbent Board Member Ebbie M. Special congratulations to the two office holders, Ms Ebbie Schmidt – Hinds and Mr. Carlyle Tearr, who will now serve as Board members of the Chamber of Commerce on Statia. I trust that the fertile experiences theypossess, would be displayed through service in realizing the mission and vision of the sector, which they represent. I wish the Chamber a progressive term and look forward to a renewed economic policy for Statia’s businesses.
