Commissioner Johnson congratulates schools

Commissioner of Education Chris Johnson recently visited the schools to personally congratulate the four educational institutions with their success in attaining the basic quality standards of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science.

The institutions include Saba Comprehensive School, Sacred Heart School, Saba Reach Foundation and Expertise Centre Education Care.

“This is no easy small achievement and shows that education on Saba is progressing and can meet Dutch standards. I want to make it clear that the Inspection that our schools have passed is the same that all schools in The Netherlands have to go through. This means that the money being invested in education on our island is improving the quality of the education for our students and this is a benefit for our island and something that we should all be proud of,” Commissioner Johnson said.

The Inspectorate has made yearly visits to all four institutions since 2012 with the aim of providing an integral assessment on the basis of which the schools and their boards could work on consolidating and securing existing quality and take targeted measures to remedy identified deficiencies.

The Inspectorate concluded that all four educational institutions on Saba have achieved the basic quality standards as prescribed by the Ministry of Education for primary, secondary, and vocational education.

“Achieving this standard is testament to hard work and dedication of the educational professionals at these institutions and I want to commend them once again. Schools are part of the foundation of our community and we must acknowledge these individuals for the work they have done and continue to do,” stated Johnson.

  1. Can someone explain me what happened with the care coordinator, student counselor and career guidance officer at the SCS? My child mentioned she left the island? According to inspection and the commissioner SCS had such a great working staff. I wonder!
