WIPM donates to Lions for their 45th anniversary

Saba’s oldest political party Windward Islands People’s Movement (WIPM) celebrated its 45th anniversary last month, writes The Daily Herald.

To commemorate the occasion party members handed over a cheque of US $4,500 to the Saba Lion’s Club to assist them with their annual Christmas activities.

These include Santa Claus’ visit to the island this past weekend, during which the island’s youngest residents each received a gift.

WIPM was founded in 1970 and has contested every election since 1971 and has served the people of Saba through many persons who held office.

Party leader Rolando Wilson said that presenting this cheque is in line with the party’s commitment to the community of Saba. “WIPM has served the people of Saba since 1971 in various political capacities. We believe in this island and today we are glad to have the opportunity to present this cheque to the Saba Lions Club in support of the work that they do for the people of Saba.”

Party President and Commissioner Bruce Zagers said the party’s membership was glad the cheque was given to support a worthy cause. “The Lions Club activities benefit a lot of people on the island and we are glad that we can support them in their efforts.”
