Mega D Youth Foundation to launch its album on Saba

Mega D Youth Foundation MYF will be launching its motivation album “Incredible” on Saba with a weekend filled with activities on January 22 and 23.

Foundation founder Dion “Mega D” Humphreys said the weekend, organised in collaboration with Child Focus and Centre for Youth and Family, will start Friday with a basketball game between MYF Ballerz and Saba Strikers at the sports hall in St. John’s. There also will be a meet and- greet after the meeting and “fun games.”

On Saturday morning, the basketball team will be coming together for a community-service effort at a similar afterschool programme as MYF in The Bottom.

During the grand event MYF will be presenting an “amazing, very motivational and inspiring show” at Princess Juliana Sports Field, Saturday, at 7:00pm. Mega D. said.

“Not only will the album be launched, but MYF will be bringing a full entertainment show with characters, face painting, various games and more. There will also be local performances by Saba Djembé Group and BYA,” he said.

“Once again, we are proud to present our album, also referred to as “The Voice of the Youth,” which comprises 16 tracks, all composed by students and recorded at M-Star Studios, which forms part of Mega D Foundation,” Humphreys explained.

The various selections on the album, which was launched in St. Eustatius on November 12, 2015, vary from songs and rap to poetry. Its purpose is not only to showcase the talented youths of Statia, but more importantly to inspire and motivate youngsters who may be experiencing trauma due to neglect from parents, sexual abuse, teenage pregnancy, drug abuse and other problems. The grand event on Saba is free of charge and all parents and children are invited.
