As you have been informed; in November 2014 Benevolent Foundation Saba (BFS) and Saba Health Care Foundation (SHCF) signed an intention to merge.
The Inspector of Healthcare for Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba visited the BFS and wrote in his latest report that the quality of the BFS had improved and therefore as of December 9, 2015 the increased supervision of the BFS has been revoked.
The management and staff of the BFS were praised for their hard work and “enthusiastic involvement: to improve care for the clients and to comply with the measurements imposed by the Health Inspectorate. The inspectorate is confident that further improvements and the safeguarding of good governance will take place.
At the end of 2015 the decision was made that the merge between the two organizations will be a “Bestuurlijke Fusie”. This means the merger will take place on the level of the Boards; both the Board of Directors and the Supervisory Board of SHCF and BFS will be the same.
A “Social Covenant” for the staff of the BFS is being drafted together with the Union, SUPLUA. This document clarifies the consequences of the merger for the employees which will be minimal in regards to their labour conditions.
With the increased supervision of the BFS revoked and compiling of legal documents the merge between both organization is moving in the right direction and is now planned to take place during the first quarter of 2016.
We are pleased with the decision of the type of merger and continue to look forward to a successful merger process.
During this process we will continue to keep you informed.
