The Bottom was transformed Friday into a kaleidoscope of blue, green, red and yellow as students of Saba Comprehensive School (SCS) assembled at Princess Juliana Sports Field to commence their parade to the Johan Cruijff Court where they competed in the Inter- House Sports Meet.

The parade was led by the Yellow Blazers, followed by the Green Grenades, the Red Dragons, with the Blue Flames in the rear.

The different coloured “houses” entertained the many onlookers and visitors with their enthusiasm, as they marched to the rhythm of drums and chanted their unique jingles and cheers en route to their destination.

The various houses then marched past the Island Secretary of the Territory of Saba Tim Muller who took the “eyes right.”

Each house then completed its routine with a brief physical- display segment which was appreciated by spectators and special invited guests, among whom were Commissioner of Finance, Culture and Sports Bruce Zagers.

President of the Saba Education Foundation Franklyn Wilson declared the Meet opened. He urged competitors to have fun but also cautioned them to exercise sportsmanship characteristics throughout the various events.

There was keen competition among the houses as athletes participated in both track and novelty events. The 1,500-metres open male race launched the intense rivalry that dominated the Sports Meet. Deiby Ramirez of the Red Dragons won this coveted event. In second position was Ludwig Charles of Yellow Blazers and Eyad Hassell of Blue Flames sealed the third place.

Top prizes for the Inter- House Sports included “Junior Champion Boy” Deiby Ramirez, “Junior Champion Girl” Tanisha Matthews, “Senior Champion Boy” Ethan Caines, and “Senior Champion Girl” Aureanna Nation.

Red Dragons was crowned Champion House, followed by first-runners up Yellow Blazers, second runners-up Blue Flames and third runners- up Green Grenades.

At the end of the Meet, SCS recognized the organizations and individuals, who supported the Inter- House Sports 2016 event with a big “Thank You.” Without their support the day of sports would not have been a success, it was stated.
