New board of Saba Festival Foundation ready for Saba Carnival 2016

Newly appointed President of the Saba Festival Foundation Vito Charles announces the formation of its new board.

He announced that the appointed new Secretary of the board is Hazel Durand and Treasurer Bridgette Hassell. Also forming part of the board are Christina Hassell, Alexandria Hassell, Judella Heyliger, Julio Levenstone, Kebba Woods and Desiree Soares-Johnson.

Carnival will be celebrated this year from Saturday, July 23 until Sunday, July 31. “Preparations are moving ahead for this year’s 41st event. We are going to have our first fundraiser, which will be a jump-up in May. The date will be announced at a later time,” said Charles.

“For this year’s carnival most of our nights have been allocated to our promoters. We are awaiting confirmation from those promoters who have taken nights into consideration. We would like to have our full schedule released by mid-May,” he continued.

Registration for troupes for the grand and children parade are still open. Charles encouraged those who are thinking about having a troupe to contact the board. “We look forward to the public’s full participation in our upcoming fundraising events in order to make this year’s carnival a great and successful event as it has been in previous years,” Charles concluded.
