Update: Documentary filmmakers raising money to finish a documentary featuring Saba’s conservation efforts.

Update:

Nick Zachar has placed a report on his kickstarter page on the progress. The page shows a beautiful video explaining his work and the progress he and his team have made.

“Saba: The Unspoiled Queen” is a documentary showcasing Saba, a Dutch-Caribbean island, and its people’s efforts to conserve the island’s natural treasures. The film will feature four Saban residents who will show the incredible beauty that the island has to offer both above and below the waves.

The island is an incredible case study of how proactive conservation efforts and a keen understanding of human impact can allow for the preservation of natural resources. Although the island is well-conserved, local organizations lack funding and resources that could jeopardize future efforts. This film intends to show what could be if everyone pitched in and took care of our planet.

Nick Zachar, filmmaker and multimedia producer, is the director and producer for this project. He visited Saba in January 2016 for a 4 day location scout and returned in late April with a crew for 7 days of production, including filming, interviewing, exploring and getting to know the people.

Production may be over, but the film is not yet finished. The film crew is now entering post-production for the film, which includes editing, color correction, sound design, music composition, closed captioning and packaging for delivery. They need help to raise funds that will allow them to finish the project.
